We all want to thank everyone for the overwhelming participation in our Auction #23, the "Best of 2003." Our new format at the Washoe Grill (Restaurant and bar) was greatly received, as was our new computer presentation of the lots as they came up at the rate of 150-200 lots per hour. Phone action was once again heavy.
Records were set on several fronts. (Prices include the 15% buyer's premium) The Carson City cancelled half dollar die sold for $18,975 on a $5,000-$10,000 estimate after opening at $9,000 from the absentee bids. The Black Bart handbill sold for $12,650 on a $5,000-$10,000 estimate to a telephone bidder after opening at $5,500.
